Greetings NYFOA Members and Friends.

NYFOA is pleased to partner with the Audubon Society to bring you a series of woods walk workshops to demonstrate songbird habitat management in practice. We would like to give a special thanks to Audubon for providing financial and planning support to these programs. We would like to give further thanks to the NYFOA volunteers at the state level and chapters for their efforts to plan, administer, and host these events; their commitment of time to bring this benefit to our organization and friends is most appreciated.

Woods walk workshops are planned for 2021 and 2022 in three regions of NY:

  • The Lake Champlain and Upper Hudson River Watershed to be hosted by the Northern and Southern Adirondack Chapters
  • The Delaware River Watershed to be hosted by the Southern Tier Chapter
  • Central Appalachia to be hosted by the Allegheny Foothills Chapter

We are excited about these programs and hope you will join in for the opportunity to learn about some different practices you can implement on your property to promote songbird inviting habitat. These woods walks will be led by Audubon staff on properties they selected to demonstrate management practices for promoting songbird habitat that have been implemented there. Furthermore, Audubon is in the process of certifying consulting foresters across NY through training, to give you additional access to qualified professionals to assist you in planning and implementing these practices.

We are contacting you to invite you to the workshop scheduled in your area as described below.

There is no cost to you to attend, but space is limited to 40 participants and pre-registration is required. If you miss out on the opportunity to attend this workshop, be on the lookout for notifications for other workshops by mail, in the Woodlot e-newsletter, Forest Owner, on the NYFOA website https://www.nyfoa.org/events, NYFOA chapter newsletters, NYFOA chapter communications, or the Audubon website https://ny.audubon.org/events.

If light rain, the program will proceed as planned, but in event of heavy rain or other severe weather, you will be contacted ahead of time about canceling and rescheduling. Please dress for the weather.

Lunch will be provided, but if you have special dietary needs, please bring the food and drink you need.
