All welcome to a joint get-together of the Niagara Frontier Chapter of the New York Forest Owner’s Association and the Niagara County Farm Bureau to talk about common interests and concerns. Event will be held June 22nd, 10 AM to 2 PM. The day will begin with a woods-walk led by the owners and a DEC forestry representative to discuss short- and long-term management plans of woodlots. Hamburgers and hot dogs will be provided by NYFOA. Bring your own beverages and some munchies to share. There will be some seating but consider bringing additional ones if possible. There will be several talks about the basics of beekeeping and raising mushrooms as well as an update on the newest invasive species to grace our area. The owners, Mark and Jean Gallo, will also discuss the trials and tribulations of the construction of the timber-frame barn that they built from trees harvested from the property.

Address: 2305 Ridge Road, Ransomville, NY. The barn is on Route 104 between Dickersonville and Ransomville Roads. (Do not be misled by Google maps which tries to put our property on Ransomville Road, we ARE on 104!) Although not absolutely necessary to respond please let us know if you can, if you intend to come so we have an approximate idea regarding food.

Boots are recommended along with bug repellent.

Further note: The Niagara Frontier Chapter of NYFOA 2019 Woodswalk will be hosted by board members Mark and Jean Gallo. Our Chapter will be providing a hot dog and hamburg lunch at no charge along with salads. Contributions of snacks, desserts and anything else would be greatly appreciated. Bottled water will also be provided. Bring any other refreshment for yourselves. If possible, let us know if you can attend so we can plan for the food. You can reply to Pat Glidden or Mark Gallo, his information is included above.

On another note, we are still in need for a Chair person for our board. As Bob Glidden has retired from the position, we have not yet had a volunteer. We also need a Newsletter editor, so if anyone is interested in either position please let me (Pat, pfglidden@verizon.net) know. This will be our only Chapter event this year, so we hope to see many faces! Mark has hosted a few years ago and I can guarantee it will be a great day!
